Lens-Artist Challenge #149: Spots and Dots Himalayan Blue Poppy

In June of 2012 I was visiting my brother in Alaska and shot this Himalayan Blue Poppy in an Anchorage Arboretum. Aside from Holiday night shots I do not believe I have ever shot a more bokeh spotted and dotted image.

  1. Such a splendid flower, and photo! I have only seen red poppies, so yellow and blue ones seem very special to me. The bokeh spots and dots are more than lovely, and I love that shy bud there too, so cute. 🙂

    1. Thank you. I keep this shot near as it reminds me of the sheer exuberance of Alaska’s flowers and the very freshness of it’s air. And..I have seeds. I want to grow this flower but it is an Alpine flower. The staff at the arboretum warned it’s intolerant of warmth. Perhaps I should try anyway. Plenty of Alpine flowers in non-alpine gardens around the world.
