These shots were taken at ‘Muskegon’s Party in the Park’ summer concert series in 2015. There is an embarrassment of riches in choosing how to spend your summer Friday nights in West Michigan. The tourism industry is in full swing and every seasonal fun spot and restaurant is open. One Friday we found ourselves short on cash and decided to have a look at these Parties in the Park. Muskegon is known as a town full of, how to say it, abiding dudes who like their beer. The marvelous truth is most of us just don’t care what anyone   thinks and follow our own drummers. We dance like nobody’s watching.

On this night Delilah DeWylde and the Lost Boys were playing. They are an extremely popular local Rockabilly band and they put on a lively show. People flock to her shows with family in tow because the kids adore her and she gets everyone up on their feet and dancing.

As you can see above the concerts draw a nice crowd. What you can barely make out in this shot are the packed food and beer tents past the monument and on the east side of the square is a children’s play area. A variety of music styles is presented through out the summer from Rap/Hip Hop, to Jazz, to Country Western, to Rock and others. Various community organizations sponsor and run each show in turn. I’m proud to say the most popular beers served are from our local breweries.
